March 12th is celebrated each year as Girl Scout Birthday, the day that Juliette Gordon Low registered the first Girl Scout troop in Savannah, Georgia. But Girl Scouts can’t celebrate such a big event with just one day of fun… which is why we celebrate Girl Scout Week every year!
Girl Scout week begins with Girl Scout Sunday and ends with Girl Scout Sabbath and includes March 12th every year. We spend that week doing daily activities to celebrate Girl Scout traditions and our sisterhood with other Girl Scouts. In Lake Zurich we ask local houses of worship to include Girl Scouts in their services, we do crafts and activities, we wear our uniforms to school to show our Girl Scout pride, we complete community service projects and we make sure to “do a good turn daily”. Every year we provide our membership with a list of daily activity choices so everyone can join the fun!
