The Girl Scout Global Action Award is a wonderful way to connect with Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world on a topic that can inspire big change! In 2015 the United Nations created 17 Sustainable Development Goals to accomplish by 2030. These goals address a wide range of topics, from poverty to education to environmental goals. Each year the Global Action Award focuses on one of those goals with the intention of encouraging girls to discover more about the topic, connect to the issue and take action in their communities.
We are thrilled to be providing an online platform for your troops to complete their Global Action Award this year; the 2021 topic of ‘Climate Change’ is one that the girls are particularly aware of and concerned about today.
Leaders, these online award platforms are intended to help you walk your troop through the award requirements and through writing their own Global Action Climate Challenge. You may want to take a moment before your troop’s meeting to review the steps your troop will be completing. We have done our best to require minimal supplies and easy technology platforms, but if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Laura Rogers at lzsu646manager@gmail.com. You can expect that completing these award activities will take at least an hour, depending on the conversations your troop takes on while learning about such an interesting topic.
Keep in mind, this award would be a great choice for an Earth Day meeting, so if your World Thinking Day celebration is too full to tackle this award you can complete it at another, later time.
