Girl Scouts celebrate several important dates throughout the year. Here’s how we celebrate in Lake Zurich!
Founder’s Day on October 31 is the celebration of our founder, Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday. In Lake Zurich we hold a Pajamarama every year around this date to celebrate! Our pajama party feels like any other birthday party with music and facepaint, but participants donate over 200 new sets of pajamas to families in need and complete mini service projects throughout the night.
World Thinking Day on February 22 celebrates the connection of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world. In Lake Zurich we hold an event where troops pick a country where Girl Scouts and Girl Guides exist and create a booth presentation to educate attendees about their country. We also earn either the World Thinking Day badge or Global Action Award by learning about a issue of global scope.
Girl Scout Week is celebrated during the week that includes March 12. On March 12th, 1912 the first Girl Scout Troop was formed. In Lake Zurich we celebrate Girl Scout Week with a spirit week including daily Girl Scout themed challenges. We complete a service project as a service unit. We also collaborate with local houses of worship to recognize Girl Scout Sunday and Girl Scout Sabbath.
Girl Scout Leaders Day is April 22. In Lake Zurich we spend time that week recognizing all of our awesome volunteers with notes and thank yous!
