Our service unit is very proud of the almost monthly events that we hold for all of the troops in our area to attend. Those events are often the work of volunteers that have a passion for a topic or activity and take their ideas a step beyond a troop meeting to turn them into an event all of the Girl Scouts in Lake Zurich can enjoy. We have seen volunteers run community service themed events, events that celebrate Girl Scout traditions, recruiting events and outdoor adventure events.
If you are interested in planning an activity for the service unit the first step is to contact our events team at lzsu646events@gmail.com. They are happy to help you organize an event, will work with you to get it approved by GSNI and will help you with promotion.
A few of the documents you will need in order to plan a service unit event are:
Please Note
When initially planning an event, the following forms must be completed and approved by the Event Coordinator and Council:
-Event Flyer (including any signup genius)
-Event Planning Worksheet
-Event Budget
The Activity Plan is not required but provided as a tool for event planner. It (or something similar) is recommended when stations or activities are setup to be led by an older Girl Scout, adult volunteer or leader.
Following an event, the Event Summary should be completed and submitted with any changes to the budget, all receipts and the check request form. The Service Unit treasurer should be included on any financial updates or requests for reimbursement.
